Walter met his wife, Carmen, in Los Angeles, where they were neighbors—an everyday beginning that grew into a lasting partnership and a devoted family life. Known for an outgoing spirit and a naturally jovial presence, Walter brought warmth to those around him and will be remembered as a good man, and as a good father and husband.
Walter held deep affection for Lima, Peru, and carried that love with him throughout his life. He also had a special talent for singing, a gift that suited his appreciation for music—especially opera. His favorite artist was Mario Lanza, and “Be My Love” held a special place among the songs he enjoyed. He was drawn to light colors, found comfort in old black-and-white films, and counted strawberry and vanilla ice cream among his favorite treats.
A source of great pride for Walter was his 38-year career with American Airlines, from which he retired with the satisfaction of long, steady service and the respect earned through years of dedication.
Walter was preceded in death by Blanca Gatillon, mother; Hector O'Hara, father; Hortensia O'Hara, sister; Blanca O'Hara Sotillo, sister; Mark O'Hara, brother; and Helen O'Hara, sister-in-law. He is survived by Carmen O'Hara, spouse; Susan O'Hara, daughter; Walter O'Hara, son; Natalia O'Hara, daughter-in-law, her three children Joseph, Joshua, and Maya, along with many family and friends who loved Walter and will miss him dearly.
A Graveside Service will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park, 1240 W G St, Ontario, CA 91762, US, on July 13, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
