Bill was born on April 12, 1932, in Düsseldorf, Germany. He later moved to Toronto, Canada, where he met Mary, who would become his wife of 66 years. They were married on August 17, 1956. In 1959, they moved to California, where they raised their family and made it their home.
Bill was a hardworking and dedicated man who remained actively involved in the business he helped build throughout his life. Alongside his wife, Mary, and longtime friend, Guido, he co-owned Garhauer Marine for 52 years. He took great pride in his work and earned the respect of customers, colleagues, and friends for his knowledge, perseverance, and strong work ethic. His commitment to quality and hands-on approach helped shape the company's success for decades.
Outside of work, Bill enjoyed traveling with Mary to boat shows across the country and spending time on the water. An avid sailor, he especially enjoyed trips to Catalina Island, where he could combine his love of sailing with time spent with family and friends.
Family gatherings were important to Bill's. He looked forward to family gatherings, espcially the holidays. Thanksgiving was one of his favorite traditions, bringing everyone together to share good food, laughter, and each other's company.
Those who knew Bill will remember his strength, intelligence, and determination. He led by example, demonstrating the value of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance through his actions rather than his words. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary, and his parents, affectionately known to the family as Oma and Opa.
He is survived by his brother, Gert, and family; his children, Mark (Tina) Felgenhauer, Douglas (Susan) Felgenhauer, Dawn (Gary) Graham, and Lynn (David) Miller; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
The family finds comfort in knowing that Bill is reunited with Mary.
