William Allen Lindenberg

William proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, carrying forward a steady sense of duty and commitment that remained evident throughout his life.

William met his beloved spouse, Dorothy, through friends Sheila & Dale Larson (what was fondly remembered as a “blind date with a handsome marine.”) From that beginning grew a life grounded in devotion to family, and he took deep pride in the six children he raised.

A man of wide interests and enduring curiosity, William found joy in history books (especially those about the Civil War and World War II), in classic shows and films (among them Dr. Zhivago and The Rockford Files), and his favorite singer, Luciano Pavarotti. Above all, he treasured time spent with family and friends. He especially enjoyed participating in his grandson Billy’s sports, as well as hunting and fishing. He liked to visit San Francisco, Las Vegas, and to take trips home to Wisconsin.

William was known for a rare, practical mastery. He was someone who could fix anything, from remodeling an entire house alone to handling electrical work, plumbing, framing, and drywall- “everything"!

He also took part in Kaiser Steel softball, valuing the camaraderie and community found in shared effort and time together. His generosity was constant and unassuming, marked by a willingness to do anything for anyone in need, and by a spirit that did not dwell on complaint.

William is survived by his loved ones: Dorothy Lindenberg, Theresa Lindenberg, Michael Lindenberg (Angela), Billy (Julie), Paul (Michelle), Kristin (Peter), Jimmy Lindenberg,and Karen Leady; grandchildren Amy Booth, Shannon Franco, Will Malmquist, Alex Malmquist, William Allen Lindenberg II, Jacqueline Lindenberg, Nicholas Lindenberg, Jade Warren, and Miranda Murray; and great grandchildren Aiden, Adam, Elli, Layla, and Abbey.
