Ysmael "Milo" G. Montoya passed away October 24, 2021. He was born January 22, 1924 in Ontario, California and is survived by his children, Ron Montoya of Upland, Priscilla Montoya of Denver, Ken Montoya of Ontario, grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. He preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Montoya, his parents and eight siblings, he outlived all of his siblings. In 1943 he was drafted and served in the Army during WWII until 1946. He was in the 163d infantry regiment serving in New Guinea, Southern Philippines, Australia and Japan. He received decorations and citations for the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. He earned the Bronze service in the Philippine Liberation and ribbon with one bronze star. After the war he married his wife in 1951. They remained in Ontario and raised their family. He was owner of Community Bakery in downtown Ontario for more than seven years and continued his career as a subcontractor opening bakery departments at various grocery stores. He loved to travel to Hawaii, Colorado and Europe. He visited Washington D.C., including the White House, Arlington Cemetery and the World War II Memorial. He enjoyed working in his yard Milo touched the lives of many people.
A funeral service for Ysmael will be held Monday, November 29, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. George Catholic Church, 505 North Palm Avenue, Ontario, CA 91762. Following the funeral service will be a committal service at 11:30 AM at Bellevue Memorial Park, 1240 West G Street, Ontario, CA 91762.
