Yvonne Susan Rone-Yarde, 67, made her transition on February 28, 2018, with her family by her side in Ontario, California. Yvonne was born on April 20, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio to Laura Elizabeth Griggs and Ernest Douglas Rone.
Yvonne was raised by her grandmother Sarah E. Rone (“Ma Dear”) along with her twin sisters (Vickie and Veronica) and her cousins (Duval, Carolyn and Wina) in Phoenix, Illinois. After her grandmother’s passing, Yvonne and her sisters moved to Chicago with their father. Yvonne graduated from Simeon Vocational High School in 1968. Later in life she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems and the Whitehead Leadership Society for the University of Redlands with distinguished honors.
In 1978, Yvonne and her two children, Laron and Courtenay, moved to Anaheim, California where she met and married Gregory Yarde on July 17, 1980. Together Yvonne and Gregory blended the family with Carlos Yarde and Sonjene Yarde. The family planted their roots in their present home in Ontario, California, where they have been residing for the last 30 plus years.
Yvonne began her career at Rockwell and later retired from Boeing as a Technical Data Designer in 2007. Yvonne had an illustrious career working alongside her best friend, Wanda Yaisrael and sister Veronica. Yvonne’s work is still being used on the Navy submarine navigational system.
During her retirement, Yvonne and Gregory enjoyed traveling; visiting places such as Barbados, Canada and a host of cities across the U.S. When they weren’t traveling, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, often taking them on outings, movies and family travels.
Yvonne was known as the family historian, best cook, and best organizer. Her interests included family get-togethers, television shows, movies, music, computers, cooking and the sound of laughter. Her smile and laughter would always light up a room.
Yvonne is survived by her loving husband Gregory (Marion Yarde, Malcolm Yarde, Patricia Yarde, Elton Yarde, Juliette Yarde, Lasonta Yarde); son Laron Jordan; daughter Courtenay Campbell and husband Rafiki Void; son Carlos Yarde and wife Roxanne Yarde; daughter Sonjene Yarde; son Gregory Yarde, Jr. and wife April Yarde; sisters Cherrie Rone-Green, Vickie Clark, Veronica Rone and husband Samuel Washington, and brother Carlos Smith; grandchildren Destiny Jordan, Lyrik Jordan, Lanya Jordan, Laron Jordan, Jr., Demetrius Morrow, Brendon Simpson, Josiah Yarde, Lyrah Yarde, Arianna Gabrielle Yarde, Gregory Yarde III, Gavin Yarde, Greyson Yarde ; great-grandchildren Isiah Jordan, Journee Chisolm, Aschemund Morrow and Lailani Brinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
