Barbara Kay Lewis, known affectionately as Barb, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the age of 86. She was born on August 31, 1938, in Coshocton, Ohio to the late Edwin King and Rella (King) Denny.
She spent most of her life in Galion, Ohio, then moved to Apollo Beach, Florida. She had just recently moved back to Ohio residing in Tiffin, Ohio, with close family. At every place, she created lasting memories and friendships that enriched the lives of many.
Barbara had a passion for spending time with her family, friends, and her beloved dog, Bella. She loved going for her morning walks in Florida with her friends. She was a very talented craft enthusiast, having opened her own craft store, “Barb’s Country Attic” with her woodworking husband, Dale, where their creativity flourished.
Barb was also very skilled in crocheting, sewing, knitting and painting. She had a love for collecting Longaberger Baskets, having made a few herself. She brought joy to loved ones with her handmade creations. Barb was known for her feisty personality and loving nature.
Barbara was blessed to have had a love that most only dream about. Her soulmate and love of her life, Dale, asked if she would like to have the corsage he had in his car at the high school dance. They were inseparable ever since that night and were married for 50 years until his untimely passing.
She was a dedicated school secretary and excelled as a seller of Longaberger Baskets, often being recognized as a top seller. Her vibrant personality was marked by her feisty spirit, big heart and sense of humor, making her a beloved friend to many. She had a way of brightening any room she entered and was a true light in such a dark world. She frequently used her favorite sayings such as, "They don’t know beans from apple butter", "Oh sugar!" and "they're full of prunes!". Her legacy of love, laughter and compassion will be remembered by all who knew her.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law and friend, Barbara is survived by two of her three children, Judy Ann and Dale Allen (girlfriend, Brenda); grandchildren in whom she found immense pride, Joshua and Christie Cahill, Brandon Lewis and Tyson (Courtney) Lewis; and her great-grandchildren, Ella, Thea, Ian, Sophia, Olivia, Alex and Zane, who all brought her great joy. Barbara is also survived by her sister-in-law, Kay, whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter she dearly missed, Debra Lynn; and a brother-in-law, Charles.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park at a future date.
