Carolyn Marion Barger, a beacon of warmth and love, passed away Saturday morning, August 10, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born November 18, 1935, in Hamler, Ohio, to the late Frederick and Lavina (Mahnke) Biederstedt.
Carolyn earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Defiance College and Master of Education degree from Laverne University. Carolyn’s calling as an educator was evident to all who knew her. For over 40 years, she nurtured young minds as a kindergarten teacher at Mansfield City Schools, sharing her passion for learning and leaving an indelible mark on her students. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
She married her husband, Charles L. Barger, on August 24, 1957, and have shared 68 cherished years together. Her faith in God and family were most important to her. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling to her Florida home, playing card games, and shopping with her family. With her contagious smile and glowing personality, she made new friends everywhere she went.
Carolyn is survived by her husband: Charles Barger; three children: Curtis Barger (Beth Bentz), Cara (Gregory) Sutton and Carmen (Braden) Egner; nine grandchildren: Capt. Kyle (Tori) Barger, Jacob Barger (Samantha Wood), Katie Barger, Alexandrea (Cameron) Foutty, Melissa (Marcus) Nogaj, Cecilia Sutton, Jennifer Sutton, Dr. Chase Egner, and Mason Egner; three great grandchildren: Amelia, Evelyn, and Cameron Jr.; and mother of Katie, Kyle, and Jacob: Susie Barger.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Celeste Barger.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Lexington Cemetery.
