Carolyn “Susie” Cahill passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday afternoon, November 19, 2025. She was born on May 25, 1947, in Ashland, Ohio, to the late John and Elizabeth (Edmonstone) Albers. A graduate of Malabar High School and the Akron General School of Nursing, Susie went on to dedicate her life to the care of others.
Susie is survived by her loving husband, Bill; her children, John (Jessica) Cahill, and Beth (Mark) Kuschner; and her cherished grandchildren, Madison and Patrick Cahill, and Sean and Andrew Kuschner.
Those who knew Susie would describe her as a true force—loving, kind, and deeply compassionate. She touched the lives of countless individuals through her many years as a nurse, offering comfort, expertise, and genuine care to patients and their families. Her commitment to helping others went far beyond her profession; it was simply the essence of who she was.
A lifelong learner and avid reader, Susie always had a book within arm’s reach and enjoyed sharing recommendations and stories. She also had a deep love for travel, and although a hip injury later in life made it harder to explore, she treasured the adventures she had and the memories they created.
Susie was also passionate about the outdoors, particularly her gardens. She and Bill spent countless hours planting and tending to their flowers, which brought her great joy. Her love for nature and the beauty of her garden reflected the care and nurturing spirit she carried in all aspects of her life.
Susie was also a sports enthusiast, particularly devoted to Ohio State, the Cleveland Guardians, and the Cleveland Browns. Saturdays and Sundays often found her watching football with a book in hand, a perfect blend of her interests.
Above all, Susie was adored by her family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her unwavering love for her family, coupled with her warmth, generosity, and steady presence, made her the heart of every gathering.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her love and care. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
