Darrin G. Marsh, affectionately known to many as “D-Money,” passed away peacefully and without pain on August 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer. He was 55 years old.
Born on January 22, 1971, to the late Willie and JoAnn Marsh, Darrin grew up rooted in faith, family, and community. As a young boy, he attended Mt. Hermon Baptist Church alongside his family and siblings, where he sang in the choir and lifted his voice in praise.
Darrin was a proud 1989 graduate of Malabar High School, where he excelled academically and shone as a talented athlete on the basketball court. Following high school, Darrin proudly served his country as a chef in the United States Navy. Later in life, he dedicated many years of hard work to Columbia Gas, where he eventually retired.
A man of vibrant energy and warmth, Darrin had a contagious laugh, a quick-witted sense of humor, and a genuine love for life. He was a passionate Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes fan, loved music, enjoyed trying new foods, and took great pride in working in his yard and doing landscape work.
In 2005, Darrin stepped into the vital role of a loving husband and devoted step-father. On August 24th, he and the love of his life, Rosemary, would have celebrated 24 years of marriage. Rosemary stood faithfully by his side as his dedicated wife and primary caregiver throughout his entire illness, providing him with unwavering love, comfort, and the highest quality of care. Darrin deeply cherished his family and embraced his role as a grandfather with immense joy and pride.
Darrin was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and JoAnn Marsh; his niece, Shauntia Marsh; his brother-in-law, Charles Scott Sr.; uncles Larry, Eddie, Elizah, and Johnny Marsh; aunts Elizabeth “Meme” Marsh and Bobbie Marsh; and his beloved grandmother, "Big Momma" Marsh.
He leaves behind a rich legacy of love and strength. Darrin is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary Marsh; his step-daughter, Shamia Foster (Richard Burton); his step-grandson, Derrick Foster Jr.; his two sisters, LaWanda Marsh of Mansfield, Ohio, and Cynthia Marsh-Gamble of Lafayette, Indiana; uncle Ben Marsh; aunt Annie Ruth; nieces LaShonda Davis and Kendra Gamble; nephew Joseph Gamble; in-laws Sherlan (Rick) Carpenter, Dorothy (Johnny) Hardin, and Dr. Albert (Sabrina) Scott Jr.; along with special friends Wayne Greene and Blenard, as well as a host of extended family members, neighbors, and dear friends.
