Deborah “Debbie” Sue Wheaton, 63 years old of Lexington passed away on May 29, 2024 at her residence. She was born in Gallipolis, Ohio on September 29, 1960 to the late Bertha (Delaney) and Autis Ellsworth Baughman.
Debbie lived in the area all of her life and graduated from Malabar High School in 1979, graduated from NCSC in 1999 and received a degree in Human Sciences - Social Work. Debbie was married to her soulmate, Jeff, for 25 years and they enjoyed many happy motorcycle trips together. She was witty and caring and enjoyed volunteering her time. Her hobbies were baking, gardening and going to the beach and she loved to spend time with her pets and grandchildren.
Debbie worked as a drug and alcohol counselor at Catalyst Life Services and worked in retail at Kohl’s. She was also very generous and determined which was evident in her real passion, baking, where she sold desserts in her bakery, Best Desserts First, for 12 years and at Bellville Farmers Market for many years. Debbie was very involved in Not By Choice Outreach, a non-profit cancer support group where she made many friends and received and shared positive messages with the group.
Debbie is survived by three grandchildren, Joshua Schrock, Rebekah Schrock, Brianna Schrock; seven stepgrandchildren, Kaden Wheaton, Jaxton Wheaton, Rayden Wheaton, Benson Wheaton, Laniah Harvey, Wyatt Winters and Riley Winters; brother, Rick Baughman; and stepchildren, Ryan (Josie) Wheaton, Lyssa Wheaton and Autumn (Kyle) Winters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jeffery Wheaton; and sister, Vanessa Baughman.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday June 4,, 2024 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Wappner Funeral Directors – Ontario, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Rd. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at Mansfield Memorial Park.
