George was born on March 7, 1935, in Mansfield, Ohio, to George and Laura (McGrain) Reece. He graduated from Madison High School with the Class of 1953 and went on to build a career in the sheet metal industry, where he worked for many years.
George's greatest passion, however, was ministry. He faithfully served for many years as Pastor of Mansfield Foursquare Church, where he joyfully shared the love of Jesus Christ. His life was a testimony of genuine faith, and he truly exemplified what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Through his love, humility, and unwavering devotion to God, he impacted countless lives.
Later in life, George found another meaningful calling as a Funeral Service Assistant with Wappner Funeral Directors. To countless families, he was the familiar, welcoming face at the door—a steady source of comfort, kindness, and compassion during life's most difficult moments. His quiet presence and servant's heart left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of meeting him.
Outside of ministry, George enjoyed restoring Jeeps, cheering on his children and grandchildren at their sporting events, and faithfully supporting his beloved Cleveland sports teams. More than any hobby, though, George will be remembered for the way he loved people, served others, and pointed them to Christ.
His legacy is one of faith, compassion, and selfless service—a life well lived for the glory of God.
George is survived by his children, Stephanie (Todd) Kiger, Shelli Caruthers, George (Carol) Reece, Rick (Kim) Reece, and Garth (Chrissy) Reece; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; and many dear friends and church family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife whom he dearly loved and missed, Kathleen Russell Reece; his sisters, Margaret Ankney, Alice Barlow; and twin sister, Laura Woogerd.
