Gladys June Zimmerman, 93, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026. A devoted Christian woman of deep faith, Gladys dedicated her life to Christ from the age of 18 and was known for her unwavering love, kindness, and daily prayers for her family. She played piano and organ in church for many years and cherished sharing her faith and love with everyone she met.
Gladys deeply loved her husband of 65 years, James Norman Zimmerman, who preceded her in death in 2021. Together they built a strong, loving family centered on faith and devotion to one another.
She is survived by her five daughters: Lynette Jordan, Melanie (Gilbert) Bogantz, Jeannyn (Scott) Ulrich, Jamille (Douglas) Hawkins, and Danette “Sunshine” (David) Brandt; five grandchildren, Justin (April) Jordan, Bethany (Garet) Gray, William (Katie) Bogantz, Candace (Brian) Watson, and Mahlin Hawkins; seven great-grandchildren with one on the way; her brother, Ira Shaffer; and many extended family members and bonus daughters, Toni Shaum and Linda Ellis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Myrtle Shaffer; her husband, James; grandchildren, Ashley Sue Hawkins and Jesse Lee Bogantz; brothers, Vernon Shaffer, Eugene "Beans" Shaffer, Lawrence Shaffer; and her sister, Lois Walters.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brethren Care for their care and support.
Gladys will be remembered most for the love she gave so freely to her family, friends, and even strangers. Her warmth, prayers, and gentle spirit leave a lasting legacy that will continue to live on in all who knew her.
