He was born January 22, 1939, in Mansfield, Ohio, the fourth of five children of the late Garland and Kathryn (Burrer) Bennett. He graduated from Madison High School and was a member of both the high school and alumni bands. Lloyd was a tool and die designer at Therm-O-Disc, retiring after 30+ years. He was a member of the Mansfield Muzzle Loader Rifle Club from 1977-2024, serving as Treasurer and in various other capacities over the years.
Lloyd married Phyllis Vance in 1958 and was a devoted husband and family man. He had a kind, compassionate heart, and was willing to help anyone in need. Lloyd was an accomplished saxophone player and enjoyed entertaining others with his clogging and square-dancing skills at nursing homes and community events. In addition to all his other talents, Lloyd was a detailed craftsman, creating many treasured items.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Phyllis Bennett; three children, Gregory (Lisa) Bennett, Deborah (Bob) Nelms and Steven (Amy) Bennett; eleven grandchildren, Adam, Scott, Maegan, Ryan, Ethan, Jason, Andrew, Krystal, Zachary, Kathryn and Eric; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Scott; a brother, David Bennett; and many cherished family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Cillian Bennett; and sisters, Janice Tinkham and Jean McCullough.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service conducted by Pastor Mike Wilson will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park.
