She was born February 22, 1944, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Carl and Dorothy (Craig) Wolford. Mary retired from the Ohio Air National Guard base in Mansfield, Ohio, where she worked in the supply building as a clerk.
Mary and her husband, Ron, enjoyed camping and were members of the Sams Club Camping Group and American Legion Camping Club. She was a very social person who enjoyed eating out every Friday and meeting friends at McDonald’s. Her dog, Tippy, was a constant companion and she spoiled her at every opportunity. Mary also made many friends at the American Legion and Eagles in Loudonville and the VFW in Perrysville.
She is survived by a son, Ron (Josephine) McClain Jr.; two stepdaughters, Becky (Mark) Hay, and Colleen (Jay) Laferty; six grandchildren, Tabitha, J.J., Nicole, Samathea, Kimberly, and Abigail; and two cousins, Rex Gleisinger and Charles Kirkpatrick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald McClain Sr. who passed away on January 6, 2026; stepdaughter, Rose McClain; and brother, Dave Wolford.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Wappner Funeral Directors and Crematory-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1:30 pm. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Cemetery beside her husband.
