Matthew Joseph Timmer (Matt), 35, passed away on March 9th, 2026, at Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus, leaving behind family and friends who love him deeply and have many memories that will be cherished forever.
He was born on July 9th, 1990, and was the son of Mark and Barbara Timmer.
Matt was working at Vitro in Crestline.
After graduating from Ontario High School in 2007, Matt went to college in Nelsonville and Athens to study archaeology and history. He loved learning and was constantly researching any subject he was interested in. You could ask him anything about history from any part of the world, and he would know the answer. Matt was a humble man with a kind heart and loved his family and friends.
In 2015, he fell in love with a girl from Bangladesh, and after visiting her and her family, he brought her to the U.S., where they were married on June 20th, 2017. After they were married, they traveled extensively, always finding fun things to do and great places to explore and try different cuisines. Their most recent trip was to New Zealand.
After buying their dream home in the country, he quickly got into farmer mode and planted a garden, acquired chickens, and bought a tractor. He and his wife planted several trees all around the property. He always found peace in nature.
Matt was an avid deer hunter, spending hours in his tree stand in the woods no matter how cold it was. He also spent many hours at his secret mushroom hunting spots in Nelsonville, and his family enjoyed the rewards of his time and effort.
He is survived by his wife, Jann (Tuk); his mom and dad; his older brother, Mark (Lisa); his nephew, Hudson; his uncle, Lawrence Mauk (Rodney); and his fur kids, Pumpkin and Ophelia.
Matt is reunited in heaven with his grandparents Joseph Timmer, Eileen Timmer, Dee Plaster, and Patricia Plaster; his uncles Randy Timmer, Kevin Timmer, and Greg Timmer; and many beloved pets.
No services are planned at this time, but a memorial will be planned for the future.
