

Born on May 6, 1955, in Mansfield, Ohio, he was the son of the late Reatha (Swanger) and Herman Clifton. Roy was dedicated to his craft. He began working at Overhead Door Company beside his father at the age of 15. He spent the next 54 years building relationships and ensuring that every job, customer, and contractor received the very best he had to offer. He retired as President and owner of Gandert Door Company in 2024.
Roy fiercely loved his family and enjoyed all the times spent together creating unforgettable memories. A lifetime lover of music and superheroes, he amassed quite the collection of guitars, comic books and figurines. To his family and all who knew him, he was Superman.
Roy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Regina Hinkle Clifton; two daughters, Kristi (Don) Lawhorn and Lori (Jason) Wurth; four grandchildren, Jenna Meister, Alyvia Lee, Joshua Wurth, and Christopher Wurth; two great-grandchildren, Weston Young and River Claar; three sisters, Tina (Randy) Heinberger, Cathy (Charles) Garman, and Joyce Smith; two brothers-in-law, Orville (Mary) Hinkle and Fred (Daisy) Hinkle; two sisters-in-law, Winnafred Dalton and Christine Preece; close friends, Tony Duncan, Robert Loyd, and Robert Tackett; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jeffery Clifton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Opal Hinkle; sister-in-law, Loretta Hinkle; and brother-in-law, Herman Hinkle.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00-3:00 pm on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Wappner Funeral Directors and Crematory-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road.
