He was born on December 28, 1959, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late William George and Patricia Jane (Bookmyer) Gerhart. While at Madison High School, he was President of the band and played the tuba. He was a passionate music lover who possessed a vast knowledge of many genres. Tracy retired from Demag Cranes and Components after 35 years of service. He began his career as an Application Engineer and ended his tenure as Product Development Manager. He was an avid sports fan, but especially enjoyed the Cleveland teams—the Guardians, Browns, and Cavaliers. Tracy also had an insatiable interest in reading, had a great love of movies and looked forward to going to the movie theater as often as possible.
Tracy was a loving husband and amazing father. His happiest memories were made at Disney World with his wife and daughter—after all, it is the “happiest place on earth”. He was blessed with many special friends and will be fondly remembered as someone who made you feel important and lucky to have known him.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Lykins Gerhart; daughter, Lauren Gerhart (Cameron Madden); two grandchildren, Landon and Asher Madden; two brothers, Mike (Annette) Gerhart and Scott (Julie) Gerhart; numerous nieces and nephews; father-in-law, Kendall Lykins; brother-in-law, Steven (Kim) Lykins; and two stepbrothers, David (Jill) and Gary Weidner.
Tracy was preceded in death by his parents, William Gerhart and Patricia Gerhart Weidner; brother, Doug Gerhart; mother-in-law, Patricia Lykins; and stepfather, Robert Weidner.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Wappner Funeral Directors and Crematory-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will immediately follow with Pastor Dallas Waggle officiating. He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tracy’s memory may be made to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
