It’s hard to find the right words when the person who taught you so much has gone. My dad, Calvin Yorke, was, quite simply, the best dad. He was our unwavering supporter, our constant encourager, and our quiet hero. No matter what, he was there. I’ll always cherish the memories of looking out from a piano recital stage or a gymnastics mat and seeing his proud face in the crowd. He was always our biggest fan, eager to showcase every accomplishment, big or small, for my brother, Kev, and me.

Dad didn’t just teach us how to do things; he taught us how to think. He inspired a curiosity in us to tinker, to create, and to troubleshoot. He showed us the value of figuring things out for ourselves, but always with a gentle guiding hand nearby if we needed it. More than any technical skill, he taught us the importance of being humble and kind to everyone we meet. He lived his life with a quiet strength and a genuine warmth that drew people to him.

As my brother Kev recently said, Dad had many sayings over the years, but the ones that became law in the Yorke family were, "You must have the correct tool for the job," and, of course, "get two just in case." It was his practical wisdom, his way of preparing us for anything life might throw our way, and a lesson in being ready and resourceful that I’ll carry with me always.

There isn't a day that goes by that I don’t miss him. But I find comfort in knowing that everything he taught me—every lesson, every piece of advice, every act of kindness—lives on. It’s a legacy I am so proud to share with not only my nieces and nephews but, the world.

Dad, I hope you knew how proud I was to be your son, and I hope I’ve made you proud of the man I’ve become. I will miss you forever, and I will try my best to keep my promise: to always be there for Mom, your queen.

My dad, was more than just a father, he was my teacher, my role model, and my friend. From as far back as I can remember, he was always there with steady hands, wise words, and a quiet strength that gave me confidence in life.

Dad had a saying: “You must have the correct tool for the job.” At the time, I thought he was just talking about fixing things. As I grew older, I realized he was teaching me something much bigger, that preparation, patience, and doing things the right way matter in every part of life. That’s a lesson I carry with me every day, and one I’ll pass down to my children.

What I admired most was how he was always willing to help anyone, no matter how big or small the need. He never asked for anything in return. That generosity and kindness defined him.

As a husband, he loved my mom, deeply. As a father, he raised me and my brother with discipline, humor, and endless love. As a grandfather, he adored Kadence and Kara, and I saw a softer side of him come out when he was with them, his laughter, his pride, his joy.

Dad showed me what it means to be a man, not through big speeches, but through everyday actions. Through the way he carried himself, the way he worked hard, and the way he cared for his family.

I will miss him every day, but I know he is still with me in the lessons he taught, the values he lived by, and the love he gave so freely. Dad built more than things with his hands, he built a family, a legacy, and a foundation that will last far beyond his lifetime.

Thank you, Dad, for everything. I love you, and I hope I can honor you by living my life the way you taught me, always with the right tools, the right heart, and the right purpose.

Being loved by you has always been such a gift grandpa. You've taught me how to hold my head high and approach the world with compassion. Your virtue and honesty continues to inspire how I choose to live my life, and because of that I know you would be proud of the person I decide to be everyday. Thank you for granting Kara and I a fairytale childhood full of laughs, love and memories. We are forever grateful to you and grandma. Every radio I see or listen to reminds me of you, and I can only imagine you have all the channels you could want right now. I cherish our moment's every day. May you rest in forever peace. Kadie loves you.

You have always made me feel so special, even through this journey. You have been my person, my teacher, my protector, and my biggest supporter. We laughed, cried, hugged, succeeded, and failed, but we always remained strong through the end. Throughout this thing called life, we have endured, compromised, but most of all, we have loved. So thank you for your love, kindness, and for all the lessons learned. You will always remain in my heart and thoughts.
