Carmen M. Abreu Perez

Carmen Margarita Perez peacefully passed away on July 11, 2013 at the age of 83. She would have been 84 years young on July 23, 2013.

Carmen was born July 23, 1929 in the picturesque mountain town of Lares, Puerto Rico. She was the only child of Guillermo Abreu and Guillermina Tacoronte-Abreu. She had a beautiful childhood growing up in Lares, and then moved to the seaside town of Arecibo. There, at the age of 15, she met and fell in love with the love of her life, Hector Perez. At 22, she married Hector on November 3, 1951 in her hometown of Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Carmen and Hector had 4 children; Hector Guillermo, Edilsa Milagros, Annette Maria and Neil Edwin. She also has 7 beautiful grandchildren.

Being an Army wife for 27 years, she and her husband Hector were able to travel and live overseas and greatly enjoyed visiting various states in the USA.

She loved to cook and was revered by many as being the best cook around. Her very healthy and happy family can attest to that! She also had an amazing green thumb that resulted in the most beautiful gardens and flowers in this area. Her incredible passion for sewing and crocheting, which were passed on to her children, will always be a part of their lives. Carmen also loved to dance with her husband Hector and were a joy to watch.

Carmen was a devoted wife, a beloved mother and a wonderful grandmother. She always had a smile on her face and spoke well of all. She will be remembered for always having a beautiful smile and her loving attitude. She will truly be missed physically, but will always be with us spiritually. God has truly received a lovely and special angel.

Grandchildren—Christina Marie Philippi, Joseph William Philippi, Alyssa Michelle Deiters, Danielle Marie Deiters, Matthew Jeffery Deiters, Jazzmine Marissa Perez and Caleb Robert Allan Perez
