Carol was born on June 3rd 1948 in Flint, MI, the only child to Fred & Eleanor Kreft. She was united in marriage to Donald Gwin in 1975. Carol was an active stay at home mom. She was very involved with the Holy Rosary school & parish in Flint. She was president of Mom’s club for several years. She forged strong bonds with the families at Holy Rosary and enjoyed hosting pizza lunches and aiding the teachers & nuns in all the school affairs. One of her biggest joys was Festival at Rosary. She often spoke of those adventures fondly.
She and her family moved to Deltona in the late 80s. Carol returned to the work force after enjoying a 14 year hiatus. She found her niche at financial institutions and enjoyed the banking field. She started as a line teller and worked her way through almost every group and found she thoroughly enjoyed the back office. She became a leader in the EFS/ACH group at Fairwinds and found family among her peers. She remained in that field until her retirement. Carol is predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Don and her parents. She is survived by two children, Leigh Anne (Jeffrey) Rivers and Brad (Jennifer) Chasteen; five grandchildren, twins Matthew (Tori) Chasteen and Andy (Eddna) Chasteen, Zoe (James Cox) Chasteen, Cooper and Morgan Rivers; and 5 great-great-grandchildren, Addyson Chasteen, Maci Meyers, Marshall and Autumn Chasteen and Forrest Cox.
Friends will be received at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, on Saturday, May 30th at 2pm where a Life Celebration Service will follow in the funeral home chapel.
