Chandmuni “Chan” Shivrattan, was born to Milton and Nogdi Shivrattan in Corentyne, Guyana. She joined them in heaven on October 28, 2021 at the age of 65, at her home in Deltona Florida surrounded by family and loved ones. Her battle with health issues began six years ago and grew more difficult over the past year. Throughout it all, she showed her courage in facing life challenges with humor, an ever-present smile and the firm belief in her God at every turn.
Affectionate, caring, loving, jovial, and humorous are some of the outstanding labels she wore throughout her life. Her infectious smile and ability to make you laugh was distinctive even in times of heartache and trouble.
Chan’s tomboyish quality was evidenced in her love of fishing, and cricket. She found joy in serving others, thus she was a teacher in Guyana and in Florida in addition to being a caregiver for various family members.
Entertaining family brought her immense pleasure especially when she made her famous fried chicken or having a meal with everyone consisting of Chinese food or Pizza. She enjoyed reminiscing with family and friends about life in general and was always checking on loved ones to ensure they were doing well or how she could assist them in their needs.
Chan is survived by siblings Nan (Jerry ), Saroj (Donald), Savit (James), Krish, Ruiz (Michelle); sister in law Kala; nephews Donald Jr. and Jason (Veronica); Nieces Artemis (Edward), Monica, Sarah (Cameron), Victoria and Rachel, Great nieces Natasha, Natalie, Roni, Zoe, great nephew Brock, numerous aunts, cousins, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by brothers Victor and Bharat, Sister-in law Joann and nephew Vincent.
Chan will be sorely missed by both family and friends whom she loved and cherished. We will all treasure the memories of her loving smile, kindness and sincerity. Now as she takes her rest after being a good and faithful servant, this remarkable woman should know that she has made her family extremely proud and that she was a blessing in life to all whose paths she crossed.
