Reflecting back over the 17 years that I have been apart of this family, there are so many fond memories that were created.  But, none more so than the time we went on a alligator hunt in Alachua County.  I had the permit and Joe had the boat; what a perfect combination!  But, nothing could prepare us for what was to come.

His boat was a flats boat, I'd say about 18ft.  Hunts of this kind are only conducted in the night hours.  We loaded up at my house and set off for what we hoped to be a successful endeavor.  We had our minds made up that we were going to land the biggest gator ever; that we were going to be the ones everyone would talk about!  Well, they are talking...but not about any big catch.

We arrived at the boat ramp right as the sun was setting.  Our idea was to head across the the lake to the farthest side, and work our way back to the boat ramp over the course of the evening.  Joe and I load up and went full throttle out from the ramp.  The current was in our favor and we made it there in about 20 minutes (This is a huge lake).  We shut the engine off and gave it a go.  An hour later and  we had no prospective gators, so we decided to move on to another spot.  As we are going along, all the sudden the engine dies.  It's dark, we are alone, and there are gators all over the lake.  A quick assessment of the situation revealed that the boat had run out of gas.  We spent the next 8 hours battling that current with a single ore and a push pole.  Of course it was now daylight and everyone at the public boat ramp was having a good chuckle watching two tired guys fighting their way though the marsh with a single paddle.

We spent a week recovering physically and set out the following Friday.  At the ramp we smelled something bad; we burned out a bearing in the trailer wheel.  Refusing to be conquered by bad luck he launches the boat anyway. Joe said, "well, we are already here.  Might as well make the best of it. Tomorrow we will figure how we will get home."

We never did get that large gator but every year this story was always revisited and a good laugh ensued. I will miss you Joe!

My sister and I always loved to come and visit 
My aunt Peggie and uncle Tuppie in Florida . We always had a fun time there.  Tuppie  would always like to mess with us because we had a favorite silkey blanket that  we would have to take every where we would go,  and uncle Tuppie didnt  believe we needed that any more because we we 5 at the time ..so he  was always tring to break us of our habit to  give it up but we wouldnt .. Tupie was very Determined to break that habit but our  Aunt Peggie would  always have to step in and  say now  Joe leave there blankets along they have to have them for security reasons  they are only 5 years old . But one nite he broke us of that bad habbit of having to take it every where with us . So that nite when we went to bed something strange happened,.when  we woke up that morning our blankets was gone , so we ran to uncle Tuppie and asked him if he knew where our blankets were and he said,  a snake had came in you room and took the blankets because the snake needed the blankets  more than we did, so we both looked at each other and was sad that the snakes had took the  blankets ,But we never asked any guestions about it again because we didn't want any more snakes in our room .. So I guess he broke us of our bad habbit after all . Thank you uncle Tuppie ..  We still love you  ... We never had  to have a security blanket ever since ...  But we did have snake night mares . Lol. ! <3....

Uncle Tuppie you will be missed dearly ... Aunt Peggie we hope you get well soon and we love you so very much ,  Kim and Lisa our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families  ..<3
