David L. Arenas, a beacon of strength, kindness, and laughter, transitioned from this world, on May 13, 2024, leaving behind a tapestry of memories woven with love, laughter, and profound impact. Born on November 30, 1960, David's life was a symphony of compassion, courage, and unwavering integrity.
David is survived by his parents, Natalia and Samuel Arenas, his wife, Andreza, his sister, Sandra, his children, Elizabeth, Jessica, Jacqueline, Alyssa, and Alayna, and his grandchildren, Mya, Jayden,Brandon, Leo, and Olivia. Additionally, he is survived by his nieces Francesca and Gabrielle, great-niece Ava, and great-nephews Christian and Cameron. David cherished his family with all of his heart, and his love for them was immeasurable.
To his family, David was the anchor of love and support, a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend whose love knew no bounds. His laughter was infectious, his smile a beacon of joy, illuminating even the darkest of days. David's gentle spirit and compassionate heart touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him, leaving an unforgettable mark on their souls. His visits to homeless shelters were a testament to his giving spirit, as he selflessly offered assistance to those less fortunate. David's generosity was limitless; he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, embodying the true essence of selflessness and kindness.
As a Lieutenant with the Orlando Police Department (OPD), David exemplified honor, courage, and integrity. His fellow officers regarded him with the utmost respect, seeing in him the embodiment of everything they aspired to be in law enforcement. David joined OPD in 1992 and served diligently until his retirement in 2020, when he returned to his nursing roots as a travel nurse. During his tenure at OPD, he served in various capacities including patrol, gangs, Drug Enforcement Division (DED), motors, and at the airport. David's love for adventure and his passion for karaoke and country music brought joy and laughter to every gathering. His love for the water was a source of solace and joy, as he navigated the waves aboard his beloved boat, finding peace in the embrace of nature's beauty.
Above all, David cherished bringing everyone together. He found pure joy in the simple act of gathering loved ones, creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime. Though David's physical presence may be gone, his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched and the hearts he uplifted. His legacy of love, compassion, and selfless service will continue to inspire all who knew him. David's impact extends beyond his lifetime, especially in the hearts of his cherished daughters, whom he adored so very much. His legacy will also echo through the laughter and joy he shared with his grandchildren, who will carry his spirit forward, embodying the values he held dear.All who knew and loved David are invited to join in honoring his memory and celebrating the profound impact he made on our lives. A visitation for David will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home,1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763. The pastoral service for David will be at 7:00 PM
