Don shared over four decades of marriage with his beloved wife, Kim Green, whom he married on August 25, 1984. Together they built a strong and loving family that remained at the center of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Kim; his mother, Diana Green; his children, Bryan (Sara) and Alyssa (Matt); his cherished grandchildren, Jamie, Mason, Layla, and Ashlynn; his sister, Kelly King; and his nephew and niece, Logan and Lauren. He was preceded in death by his father, Barry Green.
Don dedicated 33 years of honorable service to the Seminole County Fire Department, beginning his career on March 24, 1981, at Station 34 in Paola/Sanford. Rising to the rank of Lieutenant, he became a respected leader known for his calm presence, sharp instincts, and unwavering commitment to those he served alongside.
Much of his career was spent as a key member of the department’s Special Hazards and Operations Team (SHOT), primarily at Station 35 in Sanford, with additional service at Station 12 in the Altamonte Springs area. His expertise and leadership left a lasting imprint on the department and the community he protected.
A dedicated mentor, Don took great pride in shaping the next generation of firefighters, including his son, Bryan, now a Seminole County Fire Department Engineer/Paramedic. He embodied the true spirit of the fire service brotherhood—selfless, dependable, and always willing to lead by example.
Outside of his career, Don found his greatest joy in time spent with family. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson, being out on the water, and most of all, being a grandfather. Whether at the ballfield, by the pool, or sharing life lessons, he created lasting memories with his grandchildren that will carry forward his legacy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Horsepower Ranch in Geneva, Florida, with a reception to follow.
Don will be remembered for his strength, his loyalty, and the steady presence he brought to every role he held—as a husband, father, grandfather, firefighter, and friend. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the lives he touched, and the firefighters he helped shape.
