I have bin searching for a long time and today is a sad hart braking day to me ... She was a good friend  at the time we study at SCAD ... All my family my wife my kids know Evelyn by name and how sweet friend she was . I will alowes will remember her the rest of my life as I did the last 21 years. So much has changed. Baby Evelyn was named in honor of you, by Latrice and Eric. She met you last May. I wish she could have met you, and not a headstone.  Of all people, I was asked to be Godmother. I happily excepted. Dad is Godfather, lol. I miss you a lot and hurt a lot. I have so many questions, unfortunately you couldn't answer for me. Just hard to let go of the unknown. It's been a long time since I've seen all of you.  I heard the news from Rikki that Evelyn was sick and I kept her in my prayers.  I just recently received the news that Evelyn had passed and I just wanted to let you know that she will be missed.  I can't imagine your loss. Evelyn, it’s taken me too long to write this – too hard to put words down to say what I feel.  From the beginning of your struggle there was hope that outcomes or destinies could be altered, but such was not the case.  You suffered so very much as we tried to help, I would have gladly switched places with you if that had been possible.  You faced your ordeal with courage and showed the rest of us how to face the worst that life can dish out.  You long fight helped us draw closer as a family and, as a result, we learned better how to live.

Today is Father’s Day and I‘ll savor the many memories I have of you because that is all I have left; all that your family, extended family, and friends have left.  You touched many lives and I feel privileged to have had a chance to meet many of them.  I promise not to forget the lessons you have taught me.  Please know that you were loved and continue to be loved…until we meet again.

I have been trying to compose something that expressed my feelings… it has been more then difficult. Evelyn and I have been friends since grade school… I would say about 2nd grade or so. We had a lot of silly times before she moved to Florida. We even joked about it in November when we were in Target and she was imitating how we use to walk around with these HUGE McGregor bags for our books in middle school. Or the crazy times when we hung out as young adults. Sometimes we would go a few months without chatting because either of us were too busy, but we always picked up as if it were just yesterday we talked. There are soo many memories!!! 
Evelyn was one of the most open minded, giving, loving and genuine people I have ever known. She truly embraced diversity and appreciated people for WHO they were. 
I do have to say I am so very HONORED, FORTUNATE and completely GRATEFUL to have called Evelyn my friend, one of my best, and I considered her as a sister from another family?. My life is truly better for knowing her and having her in my life. I will miss her more than words can express, but I will keep her memory alive as much as I can. She will always be in my heart and my conscious!
