Evelyn E. Hawkins

Evelyn Eileen (Gaffney) Hawkins, born June 16, 1921, went to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, June 4, 2017. She was almost 96 years old. She was reunited with her husband, Albert Leonard Hawkins, her sister, Mary Larkin, her daughter, Alberta Marie Brewer, her son, Ernest Lee Hawkins, her sons-in-law, Carl Reed Roberts and Roy Tom Roberts, and her great-grandson, Tommy Leopard.

Originally from Rutland, OH, Evelyn moved to Florida in 1978 and lived there until her death. Evelyn was a kind soul who loved God and her family. She was always ready to help those in need, even working for a while at a home for unwed mothers. She sat by their beds, even when their own families had abandoned them. She loved going to church and was involved in many different ministries over the years. Evelyn found great joy in her family and loved any kind of family gathering. She loved children, especially babies, and they all loved her back.

In her lifetime, Evelyn raised five children, and helped to raise two of her younger siblings…and many others who would always “stop by for a while.” She is blessed to leave a large legacy here on Earth. She is survived by her sister, Ruby Pierce of Cuyahoga Falls, OH and her brother, James Gaffney of Ocala, FL. She is also survived by her daughters, Mildred Eileen Roberts and Martha Jean Roberts of Deltona, FL, her son, Robert Eugene Hawkins and wife Dottie, of Syracuse, OH, her son-in-law, William Brewer of Columbus, OH and her daughter-in-law, June Hawkins of Pomeroy, OH. Additionally, she leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 34 great-great-grandchildren…and the family is still growing.

Visitation and Memorial Service in Florida will take place at the Deltona Memorial Funeral Home; 1295 Saxon Blvd., Orange City, FL 32763; Phone# (386) 775-4260. Visitation will be Friday, June 9th, 2017 from 3:00pm-5:00pm (Light refreshments will be served in an adjoining room during the visitation) Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 5:00pm.

Visitation and Memorial Service in Ohio will take place at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home; 590 East Main St., Pomeroy, OH 45769; Phone# (740) 992-5141. Visitation will be Monday, June 12th, 2017. Family visitation will start at 1:00pm. Public visitation is 2:00pm – 3:00pm. Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 3:00pm
