After attending Athens High School he enlisted in the army and spent many years in the service and is a Korean War Veteran. His career expands 38 years within the airline industry with Northwest Airlines as a Station Agent. After retiring from the airlines he went back to school to become a Real Estate Agent.
His hobbies included: studying of the Bible, politics, history, spending time with family & friends, gardening, walking and eating good food. He was famous for saying – “just a little more and there is always room for ice cream”!
He is preceded in death by his Father (Arthur); Mother (Merta) and Brother (Richard).
Gerald was a loving father and devoted husband for his family. His family lives on to continue his legacy. He is survived by his wife, Delmar (married April 28, 1964); daughter, Charity (Keith); sons; Gerald “Jerry” Jr., Austin (Vickie). Siblings; Donald, Thomas (Shirley), Alan, Leonard, and Roger. Grandchildren; Sierra, Kaela (Jason), (Glehn), and Yvette.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. A reception and dinner fellowship will be from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Volusia County Baptist Church, 261 S. Orange Ave, Orange City, FL 32763.
Interment (burial) with full Military Honors will be conducted on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Deltona Memorial Gardens. 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763.
