

Helene F. Kealler, 91, of DeLand, Florida passed away August 2, 2024. She was born on July 10, 1933 to Helen (nee: Scharoun) and Francis X. Miller in Bronx, New York. She graduated from Cathedral High School, New York City, New York in 1951 where she received the honor of Miss Junior Achievement.
Helene worked in retail before becoming a full time homemaker. While doing so, she volunteered with the DeLand Garden Club, Neighborhood Center, and at St. Peter’s Catholic Church as well as being a regular blood donor (50+ gallons). She had a passion for story-telling, books, gardening, crocheting, shell collecting and creating something from nothing.
Helene was predeceased by husbands Joseph M. Kalinyak and Bert Kealler, her son Gerard (Jerry) F. Kealler and her sister Mary Ann DeChiara. She is survived by her children Joanne L. Kahlke and her husband Steve of Plano, Texas, Andrew J. Kalinyak and his wife Janet of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, Judith (Judy) A. Schmid and her husband Paul; and five grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as Grandi Beach: Krystle M. Cree, Craig A. Kalinyak, Jennifer M. Schmid, Emily E. Schmid, and Katrina J. Schmid.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Helene F. Kealler can be directed to the Neighborhood Center of West Volusia (www.neighborhoodcenterwv.org).
