Ian Always missed and never forgotten …

So sorry to hear of your loss. I grew up with Ian on Hawthorn Drive … lots of great childhood memories.  Sad sad news xx

It’s taken me awhile to write about our friend and gentle giant Ian, but here it goes. 
Ian Thompson, big as life,Lover of football and huge family man. That’s it, if you knew him at all it was family first and soccer second., And everything else was a bonus. Ian was an outstanding neighbor, friend to us,coach to my kids. We’ve lost touch thru the years but the Thompson family has always remained in my thoughts and heart. Ian will be missed and I know Deb and the kids will have a long road ahead of them.  My heart goes out to you all and we will miss you Coach Thompson💙

I am so sorry for the loss of Ian, my thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time.  I  grew up with Ian as a child and he will always be in my memories  in the UK of all the  good times together  as friends. RIP Ian 🙏

So many memories, pre kids we had great times up north with you or down in sunny south with us. You even got me to go to Newcastle  with you and proceeded to stand up, point at me and shout “he’s a West Ham supporter”. 
We visited you in your Florida home and had a great game of golf with the added “Ian rules” which, seemed to always benefit you.
Wish we could have seen you more and now that chance has gone.
You were not just my cousin you were a great friend who could make everyone laugh.

Ian, it is probably 40 years or more since i saw you. I will always remember you in my childhood, Geoff, myself, the neighborhood kids and my brother, Glenn playing football and cricket with you on the local fields.

My memories are distant but the candle of these times still linger and you were always fun to be around.

My heart goes out to all those left behind and from all of the Milner family, we are thinking of you all in these difficult times.

Dearest Uncle Ian, 

My earliest memory of you is the huge jar of coins that you used to have in your bedroom for a rainy day at Nanna and Grandas, to playing on the SNES at your house when we used to visit, to taking the mick out of Laura. 

I'll remember hearing Mum belly laughing whenever she chatted to you on the phone. Making long island ice teas on your driveway until Dad was sick and Bob the builder comforted him. The way you looked after Sarah and I when we came to visit on holiday in Florida and made me fall into the Everglades off your jet ski and pretend there were crocodiles in the water. 

So many great memories, you were one of a kind and I love you loads. Give Granda a huge hug & kiss from me and keep laughing xxx

It’s taken me some time to find the words to share on here - every time I log on to share something I read the kind words and memories of others and find myself so tearful I can’t write! Uncle Ian would be laughing at me now, pulling my leg as he always did and finding his special way to lighten the moment. We all have so many special memories like that with him, and I’ll learn from those and take them forward in my own life, he had such a fun loving way of living life, and that’s something I’ll take forward from this, a life taken so so early and too soon.

We have some great holiday memories and times spent with you all over the years, this trip being a great one.  Its so difficult to comprehend Ian isn’t with us anymore. Sending lots of love, hugs, thoughts and prayers to you and the boys Debbie    Hopefully Ian is having a good catch up with his dad, if so they’ll be having so much fun 🥰🥰🥰

I’ve struggled to say how I feel here about the mind numbing, heart crushing loss of my brother. I’d like to think he’s looking down now and reading this and that he truly understands how much his older brother loves him.
Ian ‘our kid’ was my younger and only brother. We shared a bedroom together for over 20 years growing up. We played together with friends in the streets in North East England, we learned so much together in our loving home with Mam, Dad, Chris and Lynne. In our teenage years I protected him and in our early adult years he  certainly did the same for me. We partied together, had early girlfriends together in the bars and clubs of Jarrow and South Shields and even got tattooed together and we always looked out for each other.  I have so many wonderful memories and I’m truly gutted he’s gone.
I was his best man at his wedding and he was for me too.
He understood the importance of love and family and to him that was everything. 
He shared our Dads amazing sense of humour, fun and laughter but also they shared a deep sense of right and wrong - a moral compass that is so rare these days very sadly.
Until we meet again mate.

On Behalf of myself & the Fresenius Home Therapies Dept. I would like to share our sincere condolences at this difficult time for You & your Family. Some of us at Fresenius new Ian for several years & find it very Heartbreaking that we will not see his cheerful self in the clinics anymore, we Mourn with you & share in your loss. 
From my own personal experiences, I always knew when Ian was in the clinic, I could smell his cologne. I called it the essence of Ian! :)  Ian was like the "Good Buddy" you could always talk to! He was very caring & very supportive. I'll miss his Great Big Bear Hugs & Humorous ways! When you were having a bad day at work, he would always find a way to make you smile! Thanks Ian! Ian will always be remembered as an Icon of the Fresenius Family. He will be greatly missed but never Forgotten! God Bless you Deb& your family & rest Peacefully my Buddie!

Just for You Ian - Newcastle beat Sunderland 3 - 0. You’ll be over the moon Mate …

Ian was my very much loved youngest brother and I’ll always remember him for his sense of fun and the kindness and generosity he showed everyone. Ian brought laughter wherever he went. Family was everything to him and he was protective of us all. We knew he’d do anything for us as we would for him. He will be hugely missed, I can’t believe I won’t see him again. Rest in peace Ian until we meet again. The world won’t be the same without you.

Thinking of you all.  Ian was always as daft as a brush and always made you laugh. He loved NUFC and will always be cheering them on. We are so pleased to have had afternoon tea with Ian and  Debbie at The Little Haven, South Shields last summer. Loved and missed always. Not going to lie when I first moved to Deltona, Fl from New York 24 years ago in 2000 I did not know what to expect.  What me and my family found was a wonderful loving  British family who lived just a couple houses away.  There was this one fellow named Ian who I swear every time he talked I could not understand a word he said, he had a super thick accent. Ian was to me one of the most funniest down to earth person any one could meet in this world. I only known Ian for a short time here in Florida but what i did get know and see is he was a very loving husband, father, brother, friend, neighbor, and coach. He was also, kind, sensitive and funny as hell. Ian me and my Family Raise A Tall glass of Newcastle Ale for you and your family we miss u and we love you!

I am shocked and saddened by the news of Ian’s passing.  He was a joy to work with, always kind, always looking to make things better.  When in his company Ian’s warmth and humor brightened my day.  My heart goes out to Debbie and the family.  ❤️

The love of my life … I still can’t believe it! 
You will never be gone. We made 3 beautiful children together, many memories and a home that has you in every room. 💖

Ian was a diamond who shone both here on Earth and now in Heaven. He was 13 years old and your typical young boy when I first met him. After 46 wonderful years of knowing him he remained exactly the same throughout his life - At heart a Big Kid who was full of laughter joy and kindness to all. He lit-up a room with his special way of making everyone feel included and happy.
He was a one-off and will never be replaced - We miss him so much. There are too many wonderful memories of Ian but one which is a family joke can be simply summarised by the two words - HAPPY VALLEY.

💔 Are hearts are broken knowing we won't see you again Ian Thompson. Your passing is such a shock. You are The Main Man, a Top Bloke, a terrific dad, a kind, funny, daft man; not just a good friend but more like family to us. You welcomed us into your family and home over the years and we've had such good times...god we will miss you! We have plans and we promise to fulfil them!

We share many found memories of our time in Florida, and the Thompson family are part of so many of them. Truly, Ian made the world a much better place and I will always treasure the memories we shared.  Sadly, we are unable to attend the services, but I will mix a Magic Gatorade in his honor, and share one last drink with Ian on Saturday at high noon.

The Rodriguez family (Ralphie) is very sorry for the loss of Ian. He was a staple in the soccer community. He was always selfless in giving his time to our children. My son spent many days and hours at the Thompson clan house . We definitely will miss his banter and laughter. I will say that we all will have some fond memories of Ian that will remind us of him and smile . I am glad that god had placed him in my path and my families path all so many years ago about 25 years ago

Gone, far too soon! I went through Hedworthfield Comp., School, in Jarrow, UK with Ian and he was a real 'card' back then. Prayers and sympathies to his wife and children at this difficult time.

Debbie and family,so very sorry for the loss of your husband and father. Ian was definitely one of a kind. Such a quick wit could make you laugh even when you didn't want to. He was a wealth of knowledge and could calm us even during the toughest surveys. What impressed me the most is whenever he spoke about his boys he would just light up. Sending love and hugs.

Even as I’m shedding tears for your loss, I’m honored to remember one of the best people I ever met in a short time frame. Ian was incredibly knowledgeable and had a precious heart full of kindness for those in need. I pray for you Debbie and your Family for peace in this hard time.

Many fond memories made during our kids highschool years.  We could only comprehend a few words that Ian shouted out during the games.  I think our fondest shout was "Watch The Middle", what we heard was "Walk Through The Meadow".

Ian was a great father first and foremost. I was fortunate to know him as an amazing coach and mentor to a lot of young men at DYSC. He was spirited and could always make you laugh, even when you were upset with him - he just had this way about him. My prayers go out to his family.

Ian was a huge part of our soccer family. He was a supportive & knowledgeable coach, genuine friend, generous soul, and always the jokester. Our families stayed connected over the years through soccer and school as I was fortunate to teach his sons while he coached mine.  Ian left a trail of laughs and good memories for sure. Deepest condolences to Debbie, Jack, Sam & Matt.

I had moved to Florida and became one of his son’s best friends(jack).  Ian and Debbie had taken care of me like I was one of their own. Ian was an extremely personable and generous man who was always so interested in what we had planned for the days to come. My heart breaks for his family. He will always have a happy memory with myself and my family. May he rest in peace🤍.

My condolences to you and your family for your great loss.  Ian was a very funny  and wonderful man. He had a very generous heart.  He was always there to help anyone in need.  I am sure he is probably doing the same thing in heaven  and joking around with the other angels right now.  I surely will miss his wonderful jokes and witty remarks that cheered up my days.
