

Born on October 26, 1944, in Mobile, Alabama, Joan was a lifelong learner with a passion for education. She graduated from Seymour High School before earning her Master’s Degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Her love for teaching led her to a rewarding career as an elementary school educator, where she inspired countless young minds at 9th Street Elementary and Cartmell Elementary in Carrollton, Kentucky.
On October 26, 1966, Joan married the love of her life, Wendle Carroll. Together they shared nearly 60 years of marriage, building a life centered on love, family, and education.
Joan found great joy in teaching and learning, a passion that extended far beyond the classroom. She believed in the power of education and touched the lives of many students, colleagues, and friends through her kindness, patience, and dedication.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Wendle Carroll; her daughter, Wendi Carroll; her grandchildren, Evan Koehler and Jordan Koehler; and her sister, Doris Meisner. She also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, former students, and colleagues who will cherish her memory.
Joan’s legacy of compassion, wisdom, and dedication to education will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
