

Josephine Carreira, 76, passed away on April 19, 2016 at Florida Hospital Deland. She was born on July 10, 1939 in Englewood, New Jersey to Peter and Antoinette DeMaio. She lived there until she met the love of her life Sebastion Carreira. They were married at a young age and she spent many years having the opportunity to travel around the world as his stations in the Navy changed. Together they created 4 beautiful children.
Josephine had many jobs throughout her life however one that she loved above others was working at the hospital in the pharmacy. Being able to help others was extremely rewarding. She always had a way with people and had a way of amking others feel happy. She brought that same love and happieness into her home. Josephine loved entertaining and made sure that everyone who came to her home felt welcome and as if they were at home. Josephine also enjoyed cooking for her family.
After moving into Cloister's Retirement Center in Deland she continued her love of making others happy. She became a Welcome Ambassador for the Center where she made sure that everyone who came through the door felt welcome and as if they were at home.
Josephine is predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Sebastion. She is survived by her sons Christopher (Doris) Carreira and John (Patricia) Carreira, her daughters Darlaine (Bob) Osler and Patricia (John) DeFalco, her grandchildren Ginnette, Corrine, Brianne, Michael, Christopher, Rebecca, Sebastian, Maggie, Mandy, Missy, Rachel and Jessica and by her great grandchildren Damian, Fenyx, Isaiah, Bailey, Robert, Dominic, Xavier, Ariana and Javien. Also survivng are her brothers Peter (Kathy) DeMaio and Francis (Karen) DeMaio.
A visitation service will be held at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and then again from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Clare Catholic Church on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 1:00pm followed by a graveside service at Deltona Memorial Gardens.
