Larry Eugene Yancey, Sr., lived a life rooted in love, integrity, faith, and family. He passed away leaving behind a legacy defined by the way he treated others—with kindness, respect, and a genuine, unwavering love.
Larry believed in being the best person he could be in all aspects of life. His strong faith guided him, and his love for Jesus and his family was at the center of everything he did. Those who knew him would remember his sense of humor, especially the way he could make others laugh with his own jokes.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Larry owned and operated two successful businesses, demonstrating determination and a strong work ethic throughout his career. He took pride not only in his professional accomplishments but also in the values he passed on to others—how to love, how to treat people, and the importance of working hard.
Larry’s greatest joy came from his family. He cherished watching his children and grandchildren grow, supporting them as they pursued the things they loved. His proudest moments were spent simply being present for them—celebrating life’s milestones and everyday joys alike.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Hope Yancey; his children, Lanette Renfroe, Timothy Yancey, Sabrina (Yancey) Smith and her husband James Smith, and Larry Yancey, Jr. and his wife Amanda Yancey. He also leaves behind a large and loving group of grandchildren: Kyle Bishop, Haliee Charette, Corbin Tauberschmidt, Caitlin Smith, Boston Tauberschmidt, Cadence Smith, Alora Yancey, Chloe Yancey, Landon Yancey, and Levi Smith, along with two great-grandchildren.
Larry was preceded by his parents, Robert Yancey, Mary Jane Mills, sister Brenda Lewis, and stepmother Emma Lou Yancey. He is also survived by his siblings, Ron Hallmark.
In his quiet moments, Larry enjoyed listening to his favorite songs, including “This Is the Air I Breathe” and “Nobody Loves Me Like Jesus.”
