Lionel E. Boisvert, 87, of Deltona, Florida, passed peacefully on June 28, 2026, following a brief battle with complications from a stroke. He was surrounded by the love of the family he cherished above all else.
Lionel was born on May 31, 1939, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, to the late Lionel O. and Jeannette (Guernon) Boisvert. He spent the first five decades of his life in Woonsocket, where he became a familiar and endearing face around town — recognized by many as the one with the "big yellow truck," a nickname he earned during his many years as a snack salesman for Bachman Snacks. Before that, he proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. Nearly forty years ago, Lionel and his beloved wife, Theresa, made their home in Deltona, Florida, where he lived out the remainder of his life surrounded by community, friendship, and faith.
Above every title he held, Lionel wished simply to be remembered as a loving and beloved husband, father, and friend to all. He lived his Roman Catholic faith not through words alone, but through the way he treated every person who crossed his path — with warmth, patience, kindness, and an open heart. His faith was quiet but unmistakable, expressed daily in small acts of love and in a lifetime of being there for others.
Lionel's devotion to his brothers in the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion reflected this same spirit — a life spent in fellowship and service to his community and his faith. With the Knights, he rose to Sir Knight of the Fourth Degree, and with both organizations he served in multiple leadership positions. For twenty-eight years, he could be found calling Bingo games, bringing laughter and joy to countless friends and neighbors. He treasured his mornings sharing breakfast and conversation with his friends at Sterling Court, and he loved nothing more than a good game — whether it was poker, cribbage, or shooting pool with the guys. In his younger years, he was an avid table tennis player and bowler, always ready for friendly competition.
But of all his loves, none compared to the time Lionel spent caring for his cherished wife, Theresa, and surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Family was the center of his world, and he gave himself to them completely, leaving behind a legacy of love that will carry on through generations.
Lionel is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Theresa (Dorsey) Boisvert of Deltona, Florida; his children, Deborah (Boisvert) Martin and her husband Albert Martin of Woonsocket, RI; Rocky Boisvert and his wife Poy Boisvert of Mahasarakham, Thailand; Lionel J. Boisvert and his wife Audrey (Chartier) Boisvert of Portsmouth, RI; Stephen
Boisvert and his wife Gloria (Calderon) Boisvert of Winter Garden, FL; and Daniel Boisvert and his wife Michele (Sauro) Boisvert of Lake Lure, NC.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jarrod and Jamie Martin; Selah Grenewood (Boisvert), Joshua Boisvert, and Jessica Boisvert; Matthew and Andrew Boisvert; Justin and Caitlin Boisvert; and his great-grandchildren, Tyler, Troy, Jacob, and Devon Martin; Adele; and Andi Boisvert.
Lionel is further survived by his siblings, Jeanne (Boisvert) Bastien, Robert Boisvert, Paul Boisvert, Albert Boisvert, Donald Boisvert, and Marc Boisvert, along with dozens of nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lionel O. and Jeannette (Guernon) Boisvert, and his siblings Charles Boisvert, Normand Boisvert, Adrienne (Boisvert) Weseluk, Doris (Boisvert) Hudon, and Edgar Boisvert.
Lionel's life was a testament to the Gospel he lived by — love one another. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his ready laughter, his devotion to his faith, and above all, the boundless love he gave so freely to his family and everyone fortunate enough to know him.
