

Louis( Lou) Scott was born on November 29th, 1930 to Frank and Leila Todd in Oriente, Cuba. His Family took Education quite seriously as he attended School in Jamaica, West Indies. He attended St. Simon College where he was encouraged and qualified to become an Educator. While at St Simon, Lou developed an interest and studied Economics. Being fluent in both English and Spanish he became a respected Employee of the Ministry Of Finance within the Jamaican government. During his employment, Lou met the Woman he would spend the rest of his life with, Pearlina Baptiste. They moved to New York and were married on March 2, 1957. This was the start of an incredible journey that would last for the next fifty three years.
After his move to New York, Lou continued his Education at Hunter College in New York City where he earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Economics. He continued his career in the business world at Lindenmyer Paper Cooperation as an Inventory Control Manager for 30 Years. He was credited with being a key factor in the company’s success and awarded as an Exceptional Employee. During this time Lou and Pearl lived in Brooklyn, where they had two Children, Luisa and Louis Jr. As a Family they were active members of St. Georges, Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, NY. With a strong sense of faith, both Lou and Pearl stressed the importance of leading a spiritual life and getting involved in church activities. Lou became a devoted Warden of the Vestry and worked with members of the Vestry and other organizations towards the success of business practices and social functions.
Lou was also very involved with community organizations. He was president of his local Neighborhood Association, volunteered on many political committees and was instrumental in the addition of traffic lights that would enhance community safety.
Upon their retirement Lou and Pearl moved to Deltona, Florida. They both enjoyed traveling and were active members of All Saint’s Church in Enterprise, Florida. Both enjoyed being members of All Saint’s as Lou visited and encouraged those who were ill or hospitalized. Lou also advocated and provided exceptional care for Pearl during many dehabilitating illnesses until her passing in 2010. Although he missed Pearl, he was comforted by his fellow parishioners and friends in countless ways. Lou continued to offer encouragement and support whenever he could. Within recent months Louis became ill and received many Blessings of prayer, support and encouragement from many. On April 13th 2016, he was called to be with the Lord. Lou will surely be missed, however we can be rest assured that his laughter, words of encouragement and kindness will never be forgotten.
Lou is survived by his Sister Hope, Son Louis Jr , Daughter-In- Law Sylvia; Daughter Luisa, Grand Daughters, Charese ,Jenique and ,Lurina , Lurina’s Husband Luis their Daughter Elena. It was indeed a Blessing for Lou to spend time with his Great Grand Daughter. He will also be missed by other Family Members in New York, England , Jamaica and Germany .
