Born on April 10, 1927, in Queens, New York, Lucille—affectionately known as “LuLu” to those who loved her—lived a long and vibrant life filled with devotion to family, service, and simple joys.
On October 7, 1945, she married the love of her life, Joseph Raymond Lizardy. Their love story began in a charming and memorable way—meeting while horseback riding. Joseph preceded her in death in 1983.
LuLu dedicated her professional life as a Clerical Supervisor with New York State Civil Service, where she was known for her diligence, organization, and leadership.
Outside of work, she embraced life fully. She had a deep passion for tennis, singing, bowling, boating, and horseback riding, and was actively involved as a Girl Scouts leader and with the Sons of Italy. LuLu’s energy, warmth, and zest for life left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Jo Ann Lizardy and Gail Margaret King; her grandchildren, Maia King (Shelly Cohen) and Michael Lizardy (Erica); and her great-grandchildren, Atticus, Christopher, Declan, Elizabeth, and Molly.
LuLu will be remembered for her spirited personality, her love of laughter, and the way she brought people together. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763, US, on May 7, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
