Maria Krafft

Maria (Popowitsch) Krafft, 93, died peacefully April 6, 2016 in Bennington, Vermont where she had been a resident of Brookdale at Fillmore Pond. She was born in Romania to Stefan and Maria (Ordosch) Popowitsch. As a young woman she came to New York where she met her beloved husband Alfred Krafft. They were married May 1952. They resided in Norwalk CT where they made their home and raised their loving son, Arthur. They traveled extensively. Maria had a home-based business as a dressmaker for many years. An avid Master Gardener she was president of the Deltona Garden Club. She was an accomplished competitive ballroom dancer.

Maria and Alfred retired to Deltona Florida in 1983. They had a loving marriage for 62 years until Alfred’s death in 2014.

She is survived by a loving son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Judith Krafft of Heartwellville, VT, a sister-in-law, Vera Bell of Highland Lake, NY, a nephew, six nieces and several grandnieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, loving husband, brother Martin Popowitsch, brother Peter (Popowitsch) Bell, brother-in-law Walter Wagner, and sister Regina Wagner.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 15, 2016 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Boulevard, Orange City, FL 32763. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Entombment will be in Deltona Memorial Gardens, Orange City, FL.
