Marlene was born in Kingston, PA on August 22, 1941 to the late Louis Trnovec and Ann Watlock Trnovec. In 1959 she graduated from West Side Central Catholic High School and in 1963 graduated from College Misericordia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Upon graduating college she began a 30 plus year career as an elementary school educator in New Jersey and Florida (Broward and Volusia counties). While working in the Broward County School system she also obtained her Master’s Degree in Education from Florida Atlantic University. Teaching was Marlene’s passion and she always had a sense of pride regarding her history as an educator. Upon retirement in 1997, Marlene enjoyed traveling, reading, playing bridge and learning to play the piano.
Marlene met her husband, Francis Hilditch, in 1963. They had a beautiful courtship and married on October 24, 1964. Marlene and “Fran” were happily married for 49 years. They were a fun loving couple that enjoyed being with friends and traveling. The couple moved to Deltona in 1981. Marlene is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fran and her parents, Louis and Ann.
Her survivors include her daughter, Bethann Monty (Michael); two grandsons, Luke and Brendan.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at the Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church; 1310 Maximilian St.; Deltona, FL on Thursday, January 27 at 1:00 p.m. Following mass, Marlene will be inurned next to her husband, Francis at the Deltona Memorial Garden Cemetery Columbarium.
