

Mati was born in Havana, Cuba, on June 11, 1962. She graduated from Stranahan High School and went on to build a life centered on faith, family, and love. On October 15, 2004, she married the love of her life, Angel Torres, and together they shared a beautiful marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering support.
Mati was a devoted wife, a loving daughter, a cherished sister, a beloved aunt, and a proud great-aunt. She is survived by her beloved husband, Angel Torres; her mother, Deisy Proenza; her sister, Alicia Cobielles; and her brother, David Proenza. She was preceded in death by her father, Candido Proenza. Mati is also survived by her nine nieces and nephews and twelve grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom she loved deeply and held close to her heart. Her greatest joy was spending time with those she loved, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
Above all, Mati loved and faithfully served the Lord. Her faith was the foundation of her life and was evident in the kindness, grace, and compassion she extended to everyone she met. She had a passion for traveling and found great joy in witnessing the beauty of God’s creation, always marveling at the world He created. Whether exploring a new destination, gathering with family, or simply enjoying life’s everyday blessings, Mati lived with gratitude, unwavering faith, and a heart full of love.
Mati will be remembered for her strong spirit, authentic personality, generous heart, infectious smile, and the love she so freely shared with everyone around her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, love, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Her family finds comfort and peace knowing that she is now in the presence of her Savior, whom she faithfully loved and served throughout her life. As Scripture reminds us, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7). Mati lived those words each day, and her life stands as a testament to steadfast faith, enduring love, and devout trust in God.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763, US, on July 5, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
