Mercedes Angela Christian

Born on November 15, 1945 in Angelopolis, Colombia, Angela carried her Colombian roots proudly throughout her life. She was married to William Christian Antongiorgi on September 2, 1975, sharing a loving and devoted marriage until his passing in 2023.

Angela had a passion for sewing, cooking, and caring for her family. Her joyful spirit and welcoming nature touched everyone she met. Whether among lifelong friends, neighbors, doctors, or even cashiers at local stores, she had a unique ability to make people feel seen, loved, and appreciated. Her smile was known and cherished by all.

She endured profound loss throughout her life, including the passing of her firstborn daughter, Elizabeth, who lived only one day, and later the loss of her beloved husband, Willy, in 2023 due to effects of Agent Orange due to his time in the Vietnam War with the US Air Force. Despite these hardships, Angela remained strong, graceful, and deeply devoted to her family and faith.

After living for more than 40 years in Miami, Angela made her home in Orlando with Diane where her beautiful energy continued to brighten the lives of everyone around her.

Angela is survived by her loving daughter, Diane Christian; her siblings Hermilda, Marta, Gilma, Luz Marina, Beatriz Elena, Margarita Eugenia, Oscar, Juan, and Aura Ligia; as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory along with those who already wait for her in the next life.

Even while facing the return of a very aggressive and wide spread cancer, Angela fought courageously with strength and grace, supported every step of the way by her daughter. She will be remembered for her resilience, compassion, faith, and the love she gave so freely to others.

Funeral arrangements will be held in Medellín, where she will rest beside her beloved Saldarriaga family.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Mercedes Angela Christian, conocida con cariño por muchos como Ángela, por su calidez, bondad y sonrisa inolvidable, falleció en paz el 6 de mayo de 2026.

Nacida el 15 de noviembre de 1945 en Angelópolis, Colombia, Angela llevó con orgullo sus raíces colombianas durante toda su vida. Se casó joven con William Christian Antongiorgi el 2 de septiembre de 1975, compartiendo un matrimonio lleno de amor y dedicación hasta el fallecimiento de él en 2023.

Angela tenía una gran pasión por la costura, la cocina y el cuidado de su familia. Su espíritu alegre y su naturaleza acogedora tocaron la vida de todos los que la conocieron. Entre amistades de toda la vida, vecinos, doctores o incluso cajeros en tiendas, Angela tenía una forma especial de hacer sentir vistos, queridos y apreciados a los demás. Su sonrisa era conocida y amada por todos.

A lo largo de su vida enfrentó profundas pérdidas, incluyendo la de su primera hija, Elizabeth, quien vivió solamente un día, y posteriormente la pérdida de su amado esposo, Willy, en 2023 por efectos de Agente Orange debido a su tiempo en la guerra de Vietnam con el US Air Force. A pesar de estas dificultades, Angela permaneció fuerte, llena de gracia y profundamente dedicada a su familia y fe.

Incluso enfrentando el regreso del agresivo y regado cáncer, Angela luchó con valentía, fuerza y dignidad, acompañada y apoyada en cada paso por su hija. Será recordada por su resiliencia, compasión, fe y el amor que entregó generosamente a los demás.

Los servicios funerarios se llevarán a cabo en Medellín, donde descansará junto a su querida familia Saldarriaga.
