He was born in Hartford, CT on May 9, 1939 to the late Raymond I. and Florence (Madore) Lareau.
Ray retired from the City of Sanford after 10 years of service and continued to work part-time for16 years at Dunkin Donuts, Deltona before moving back to his home state of Connecticut for a short time, finally settling back to Deland. Prior to moving to Florida in 1989, Ray was a local truck driver in Connecticut working for several companies over the years.
Besides his employment, he also was a volunteer firefighter with the Shaker Pines Fire Department in Enfield, CT, with two of his children later joining him. This was the beginning of a legacy with all of his children and one grandchild eventually becoming volunteer firefighters as well. He also coached his son’s baseball teams.
Ray enjoyed spending time with family, especially his children, grandchildren, and sisters; taking photos and videography of special events and occasions, later creating memorable videos and photo collages and giving them to family as gifts. He also enjoyed watching action and horror films with his wife, Carol-Ann. When he wasn’t busy spending time with family or watching movies, he would be seen taking great care of his property, earning him awards in his community. He also enjoyed fishing and sightseeing, many times taking spur of the moment trips.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Audrey D. Lareau; his brother, Robert Lareau; and five sisters, Lorrain Gochee (Andy), Loretta Thibedeau (Gil), Nancy Messamore, Anita Rushlow (Arlen), and Partricia Sprague.
