It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of our cherished brother and uncle, Raymond Nicholas Panetta, who passed away on May 29th, 2025, at the age of 69. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, he was a true original- known for his brilliant mind, kind heart, and the rare gift of making everyone feel seen and valued.
A proud graduate of the Bronx High School of Science and Lehman College, where he earned his degree in Geography, he was a lifelong learner with a passion for sports, music, movies and history. His sharp memory and vast knowledge were matched only by his warmth, generosity and unwavering positivity.
He never forgot a name, always greeting everyone with warmth and a strong handshake, and made it a point to lift the spirits of those around him. He embraced the message to leave the world better than he found it- through every conversation, every smile and every act of care.
He was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and New York Rangers, and found joy in classic television, timeless films, hearty meals and family traditions- especially pizzagaina, a cherished family recipe. He was a voracious reader who especially loved biographies of music legends, film icons, and sports heroes.
Raymond is survived by his loving sister Joan; his caring brother-in-law Don; his cherished nieces Nicole and Dana; and his treasured grandnieces Juliana Lee and Sophia Mae. Each of them carries forward his joy, his wisdom and his unwavering love.
He will be remembered for his heart, his humor, and the light he brought into every room. We will miss his stories, his warmth, and his laughter. But most of all, we will miss the beautiful soul who made our lives brighter just by being part of them.
Rest in peace, dear Raymond. Your memory will live on in every name remembered, every kind word shared, and every smile inspired.
You were truly the MVP of our lives.
