Richard Matheu born July 26,1926 was the son of Juan Mattheu and Francesca Carrillo. Brother to José Luis, Alfredo, Raul and Conchita. Richard was married to Theresa Pericas Mattheu (predeceased) for 47 years, he was father to Frank Pabon and Elsa Santiago. Between them he had nine Grandchildren and 19 great Grandchildren. Richard was born in San Juan Puerto Rico and he's family relocated to New York City when he was just 12 yrs old. He enlisted in the Military Service at the age of 18, our father was very proud of the work he accomplished in the Navy especially learning communications via Morse code a method of transmitting text information, something he really enjoyed and continued throughout his life. He was not particularly athletic and was very shy when he was young. He was incredibly loyal to his country and I know he was very proud to have served in World War II, dad had many great memories with his military comrades, and was a true patriot. He completed his service with an Honorable Discharge from the United States Navy in 1946. He immediately continued his education in Tecnology completing courses and becoming a Television & Radio Technician, he preformed exceptionally well in school. Upon his courtship and marriage to our mother he moved to Connecticut and was employed by Avco - Textron Lycoming Manufacturing until his retirement in 1989. Upon retiring our parents relocated to sunny Central Florida, Deltona and lived a very happy life they spent their golden years traveling and enjoying a leisure life with their family and friends. He will be missed but has begun his journey back to be with our mother. He left us with many memories that we will treasure for years to come. His sence of humor was quirky and insightful leaving everyone trying to figure out how he found words that made us all smile in wonderment. The legacy our father instilled in us was his hard work ethics, responsible nature and drive to be all we can be without reservations. We are so fortunate and grateful to have had him as a father, my sister and I feel comforted in knowing that he accomplished more than he could have dreamed of in life and we will hold him in our hearts forever. We love you Dad.
