

Robert Linwood Crawley , 90, Deltona, Florida died Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial. He was born October 11, 1922 in Astoria, New York to Lin and Carrie Crawley while his father was on a building assignment. He was raised in Roanoke, Virginia until he entered military service at age 18. He served as a fighter pilot flying P-47’s during WWII and received several commendations. In one day his unit, the 324th “Hells Bells” flew 105 missions over Germany. Following his military service, Robert was a jeweler, real estate broker, and entrepreneur, married to Valerie for 68 years until her death in 2012 . He is survived by two sons- Norman and Robert Crawley of Deltona; two Daughters-Janys Abate of Lake Mary, Florida and Vicki Lynn Torres of Longwood, Florida; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home from 6-8 PM. Services will be held on Wednesday, March 13 at 10 AM at Deltona Memorial followed by interment at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. His favorite saying was “rebel born, rebel bred, when I die, there’ll be a rebel dead”. The family requests donations to Bags of Hope Central Florida (P.O. Box 915732, Longwood, FL 32792) or Habitat for Humanity (1100 Americana Blvd, Sanford, FL 32773) in lieu of flowers.
