Ronald was born in Akron Ohio to Opal M and Lewis Doan on February 11, 1934. He was a student and a graduate of Hower High School and played basketball for Hower along with his brother Raymond. He also played and coached hockey on Kent Ohios' Moonglo team, leading them to play in the Nationals where they took second place.
He had a love of cars and painted Walt Arfons' blue Wingfoot Express that took the land speed record until his brother Art Arfons took the record back a short time later.
Having learned his trade from his father Lewis, He opened his first Doan's Auto Body Shop on Front Street in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio, and then another auto business in Kent Ohio, until the blizzard of "78, when moving to Florida sounded like a good idea, so in in 1979 the family moved to Longwood Florida and opened the third Doans' Autobody Shop on 434 that he ran until he sold the business in 1989 to work in real-estate with his wife, Mary, as one of the areas' first professional full-time house "flippers".
After suffering a massive heart attack in 1996 he semi-retired. His family is grateful to HCA in Sanford for saving his life and Orlando Health Heart Institute and Dr Aurelio Durran for keeping him healthy through 28 more wonderful years and six implanted Pacemaker/Defibrillator devices. They gave us time with him that we wouldn't have had without them.
