Shirley was born in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on December 24, 1927, to Charles and Sarah (Irvine) Croft. She grew up in a loving family and carried those values with her throughout her life. Eventually, she met and married John McLellan, Jr., and together they raised a family filled with love and travel as John served in the Navy and Air Force.
As a child, Shirley enjoyed simple pleasures like roller skating with friends and learning to bake and sew, taught by her mother. She truly found joy in cooking and entertaining family in her home. Known affectionately as “Gigi,” she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose heart was always open to those she loved.
Her passions later in life included baking, especially detailed cakes, sewing, and later playing bingo with her senior friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John McLellan, Jr.; her sons Richard and Floyd; her five brothers and sisters; and her parents, Charles O. and Sarah Croft.
Shirley’s memory will forever be treasured by her son, Stanley J. (Debra) McLellan, and her daughter, Tina L. Read; her grandchildren, Lisa (Matt) Gordon, Sean (Nicole) McLellan, Jason (Jennifer) McLellan, Brian (Tamra) McLellan, Jonathan (Kayla) McLellan, Nicole (Sam) McClung, and Rachel (Brandon) Yates; and her great-grandchildren, Alex and Emily Gordon, Owen McLellan, Isla McLellan, Fiona McLellan, Griffin McLellan, Graham McLellan, Kaitlyn Read, Madyson Yates, and Aubre Yates.
Her deep love and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
