Sophia was fearless, at only two years old she was already unstoppable. She had already overcome so much in her short life. From a broken arm at birth to seizures at 5 months. Sophia loved to sing and dance, she could dance to anything with a good beat. She was artistic. She loved to color with anything she could get her hands on like crayons, markers, chalk or pens. She loved to watch "Bluey". It was her favorite show. Most of all Sophia loved her family. She loved her mommy and daddy, they were her world. She loved to follow mommy everywhere she went. She loved her daddy who was her #1 fan and protector. She loved her big sissy who was always there to comfort her when she needed it, and she loved her little brother although she wasn't always happy about sharing with him. Sophia was not an overly friendly child. She did not like a lot of people and she did not give out hugs to just anyone, but if you were lucky enough to get a hug from her it was as if she was hugging your heart. Her smile was the most beautiful smile, it could light up even the darkest of days. Her smile will shine forever and her love will never end.
She is survived by her dedicated parents, Jose Ortiz and Jessica Calix; big sister, Ariana Calix; little brother, Benjamin Ortiz-Calix; proud maternal grandmother, Janet Calix; cherished paternal grandparents, Gregorio Ortiz & Maria Reyes; along with aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 1-2pm, Friday, December 17 at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd., Orange City, Florida. A graveside service will follow at 2pm at Deltona Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Deltona Memorial Funeral Home. www.deltonamemorialfuneralhome.com
