Vernon Marshal Sieg (Vern) age 87 was called home by his lord and savior Jesus Christ on June 24 2022. Vern passed peacefully surrounded by family at the Halifax Health Hospice Center in Orange City Florida. Vern was the youngest of 5 children born to Roy and Beulah Sieg of Jacksonville Florida. Vern grew up in Florida but after retiring from the United States Marine Corp he resided in North Carolina.
Vern served his country and humanity well during his life and was a retired Marine Corp Master Sergeant. He served 21 years to include Korea and Vietnam and had five overseas combat tours. After his retirement from the Marine Corp Vern had a second very successful career in sales.
Vern loved to fish, read and travel but his passion was helping others. He was a life member of the American Legion, the Disabled Americans Veterans and The Gate City Lions Club and the Randolph County Honor Guard. He held several positions within these organizations. He and his wife Patricia attended the Oak Level Baptist Church in Stokesdale NC.
He was preceded in death by the mother of his children Joyce Walker Sieg, his daughter Benita Lynn Sieg, his parent Roy and Beulah Sieg, and his siblings Clara Sieg Young, Roy L Sieg JR, Ernest Sieg, and Kathleen Sieg.
He is survived by his loving family, his widow who brought him much joy and happiness later in life Patricia Sieg of Stokesdale NC, daughter Donna Spikes and her husband (whom he considered his son) Richard Spikes of Deltona FL, his grandchildren Matthew Spikes of Winter Haven And Shelly Lynn Walters of Sanford Fl. His favorite nephews and their families Kane Sieg of Ocala FL, Scott Tucker of Trenton FL and Mark Sieg of Jacksonville FL.
His parting hope is that is that in some way he has helped others in their life's journey, particularly those visually impaired persons that he took personal responsibility for. His volunteerism in both the Lions Club and Randolph County Honor Guard was a highlight of his life as he served others with compassion.
"Semper Fi" family and Marines he has gone to meet his maker which he was looking forward to.
On August 20 2022 at 12 PM There will be a graveside military service at Melrose Cemetery 821 State Rd 21 Melrose Fl followed by a Celebration of life at the Santa Fe Lake Park in Melrose. Attendees are asked to wear red white and blue to honor Verns love of his country and dress casual for the Florida heat.
