Victoria E. Hesselton Morrow

Vicki was born on March 3, 1954, in Oklahoma to Margaret Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Hudson and Thomas John Bush, Sr. After her parents’ divorce, she moved with her mother and brother to Delaware and Panama City, FL. They settled in southeast Florida when Beth married Richard ‘Dick’ Hesselton in 1965. Dick later adopted Vicki.

She married Richard ‘Rick’ Morrow, and they had one child, Ryan Morrow. Vicki and Rick divorced in 1999.

Vicki attended Miami Dade Community College, where she learned sign language. She graduated from Florida International University with a bachelor’s degree in Geography. She later completed her master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems at Florida Atlantic University, where she served as an adjunct professor. She played an instrumental role in developing FAU’s fledgling GIS program, including developing and teaching the graduate GIS introductory courses.

Vicki retired as Countywide GIS Manager from Broward County government after 23 years. Prior to that, she worked as a sign language interpreter, news reporter for Reuters, adjunct faculty at Florida Atlantic University, and GIS planner. Prior to and after her retirement, she was the primary caregiver for her mother, Beth, who had dementia. After Beth died in August 2023, Vicki moved to Eustis, FL, to be with Ryan and embark on their biggest adventure. They began building her dream home in Deland and were excited about moving in at the end of December. Unfortunately, she became ill and died a week after going to the hospital.

Vicki was an avid gardener. She loved growing and canning or dehydrating her own food. She loved cooking and spending time with loved ones, including son Ryan and great nephew Nolan Bush. She and Ryan loved taking vacations and traveling together. She was a voracious reader, enjoying books from a diversity of genres.

She is survived by her son, Ryan; sisters Deborah ‘Debbie’ Hesselton Valencia (Arcy), Denise Hesselton (Laura), Georgeanna ‘Traci’ Hesselton Herbold (Shane); and brother David Hesselton (Brooke).

She was preceded in death by mother Beth Hesselton, father Thomas Bush, Sr., adoptive father Richard Hesselton, and brother Thomas ‘Tom’ Bush, Jr.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 24th, at 10 a.m. at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home in Orange City, FL.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on November 24th at the funeral home, with Jan Gudis officiating.

Burial will follow at 12 p.m. at Oakdale Cemetery in Deland, FL.
