Wilson Warren Mendell

DeBary, FL age 75 died on March 23, 2012. He was predeceased by his brother Roy in 1993. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 18 years Millie J; 3 step daughters, Faith (Mike) Collins, Sandy (Ed) Cross and Pam (Terry) Bogral; 12 step grandchildren, Jennikah Van Auken, PV2 Thomas Joshua Collins, Rebekah Collins, Jessica Cross, Vylett Cross, Jacob Cross, Joshua Cross, Isaiah Cross, Esther Cross, Emma Cross, Lara Pare and Cameron Borgal; 2 step great grandchildren, Ella Van Auken and Ethan Rollins Cross; cousin Louise Sheldon. Bill was born July 29, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late Lester and Sarah Warren Mendell. He grew up in the Malden, MA area. Bill served in the US Army as a Lineman; Retired from ATT as a cable former after 26 years, worked 11 years at Manheim Auto Auction in Daytona, and was a member of the Volusia County Baptist Church, the American Legion, the Compass Riders Motorcycle Club, Good Sam Camping Club, Pioneer Volunteer Network and Wavas Hall Senior Center. Bill enjoyed “horsing around”, walking, and playing cards and loved to help his friends and neighbors.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday April 2nd 6 PM at the Volusia County Baptist Church, 261 S. Orange Ave, Orange City, FL. Burial with Military Honors will be Monday April 2nd 11:30 AM in Jacksonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. www.stjude.org
