Wylie Edward O'Brien Sr., 67 years young, lived in Deltona FL, passed away unexpectedly on July 20th, 2021 at 10:10 AM. He was born on September 27th, 1953 in Tampa FL to the late Margaret and Edward A. O'Brien.
Wylie was a veteran of the US Army 82nd Airborne as a Sergeant First Class where he served this country for 23 years. Wylie worked for Florida Department of Corrections for over 20 years. Wylie was always young at heart, very competitive and never knew a stranger. In fact, many people would call him the Mayor of Deltona. He enjoyed many sports. His hobbies included, wrestling, fishing, bowling, football and most of all softball. He also coached his son and grandson in little league football. He loved meeting new people, he loved hanging out, he loved it all and they loved him more than he will ever know. He truly had a heart of gold and will be missed by so many.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol J. O’Brien; children, Wylie Edward O’Brien Jr., Lyndee C. O’Brien, Lory O. Medina, Debra-Kay O’Brien, Christopher G. O’Brien; thirteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A celebration of life with sharing of memories for Wylie will be held Friday, August 6, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763. A visitation will occur Friday, August 6, 2021 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763. A committal service will occur Friday, August 6, 2021 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US-1, Mims, FL 32754.
